April-may
Magnolia x loebneri 'Leonard Messel' - Highly branched, small tree or large shrub with star-shaped, small white flowers, the outer tepals of which have a big pink stripe. The buds are dark pink. The 12 tepals are 7 cm long and only 15-20 mm wide. Blooms from mid-April to mid-May. Very attractive, little tree for parks and gardens. Because of the pink stripe on the outer tepals, this Magnolia appears to bloom pink from a distance.
