Sequoiadendron giganteum, a coniferous tree, bluish-green, with a uniform pyramidal growth. A species that, along with Sequoia sempervirens, can reach impressively old ages and enormous dimensions which made them one of the most famous tree species in the world. The tree is indigenous to the Western part of North America.
Here, it can reach heights up to a maximum of 100 m. In the Netherlands, it can reach heights up to approximately 35 m with a trunk circumference of approximately 10 m. The reddish-brown bark can endure high temperatures (fire). Beautiful park tree, but requires sufficient growing space.
