The Styphnolobium japonicum 'Regent' (syn. Sophora japonica 'Regent') is a tree with a robust straight trunk, 10-12 m high. The crown is ovate/round and 4-5 m wide. The foliage is larger than is common to the species and shiny dark green. Flowers species-specific in August and very richly. Grows faster than is common to the species. Suitable as an avenue and street tree because of the limited dimensions of its crown. Also requires very good soil.
