Zelkova serrata 'Urban Ruby' is an American selection with a vase-shaped crown, 10-12 m high and 5-6 m width. The foliage is long egg-shaped with a blunt serrated leaf edge. Sprouts purple and turns dark green afterwards. Pretty autumn colouration, rusty red to brownish yellow.

The species generally has a too low and widely spreading crown, making it unsuitable for plating alongside highways. Zelkova serrata 'Urban Ruby' is thanks to its vase-shaped corwn and its smaller size however very suitable as a street and avenue tree.
