First steps are taken towards organic cultivation (SKAL)

Last week we have taken the first steps towards organic cultivation by planting SKAL-certified young trees on our biological set up nursery field. Even though we have been cultivating trees according to PlanetProof-requirements for many years now, we are curious to find out the effects of organic cultivation.

At the time being all our nursery fields are PlanetProof; this means we use substances as little as possible and often evens less than allowed by PlanetProof. When we mow grass lanes, we spread the grass sideways on the adjoining row with trees, thus slowing down the growth of weeds. We also have a started a trial with chickens that help sustain weed control. The trial unfortunately has been temporarily suspended due to compulsory locking up of poultry.

But our ambitions reach further. That is why this year we started with organic cultivations of trees in accordance with SKAL-certification. We are curious about the outcome and would like to learn more about the differences between SKAL and PlanetProof.

With our extended assortment of these biological trees, we can soon better meet our customers’ needs.
